“Since fleeing the war in Ukraine about 10 months ago, Nataliya Mikhnova’s family has faced its share of challenges while adjusting to their new lives in Los Angeles. To cheer up her young daughters, Mikhnova reminded them that unlike other children they would celebrate not one but two Christmases this year…’I pray about peace in Ukraine so people don’t die,’ said Mikhnova, who left Lviv in April of 2022. ‘I pray that my relatives in Ukraine would be safe.’ As a community integration coordinator at the International Institute of Los Angeles, Mikhnova assists Ukrainian refugees in  establishing their new lives in the U.S. But she still sees families struggling to find housing, jobs and daycare for their children…”
