LOCAL INTEGRATION & FAMILY EMPOWERMENT (LIFE) DIVISION

EMPOWERING WORKING FAMILIES & COMMUNITIES

In addition to Immigrant and Refugee Services, the Local Integration & Family Empowerment (LIFE) Division also supports low-income working families and individuals in Los Angeles by increasing access to basic services, connecting communities to resources, and ensuring that economic opportunities are available and accessible to all people.

METRO’S LOW-INCOME FARE IS EASY

IILA is a provider of LA Metro’s Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) Program, which provides transportation assistance to low-income individuals in LA County. The LIFE program helps qualifying LA County residents save on fares. Once you’re in the program, you can load 20 free regional rides on Metro or purchase a discounted pass on any of the 13 LIFE participating transit agencies.

Transitional Subsidized Employment By IILA
TRANSITIONAL SUBSIDIZED EMPLOYMENT

IILA’s Transitional Subsidized Employment Program provides subsidized job opportunities for CalWORKs participants. Clients are assigned to public agencies or non-profits where they gain paid work experience and on-the-job training.

By training for marketable skills and overcoming barriers to work, IILA has a high success rate for participants securing employment after completing the program.

TELECOMMUNICATION EDUCATION ASSISTANCE IN MULTIPLE-LANGUAGES

IILA is a provider of the California Public Utilities Commission’s TEAM program, which offers free-of-charge service to consumers who are not proficient in English to assist with questions, concerns, or to resolve phone bill complaints or fraud disputes.

We help consumers find solutions to any problem they may have with their telecommunications bill and educate them on consumer rights.

COMMUNITY HELP & AWARENESS OF NATURAL GAS & ELECTRICITY SERVICES

IILA is a provider of the California Public Utilities Commission’s CHANGES program, which provides free-of-charge service to consumers who are not proficient in English to assist with questions, concerns, or to resolve gas and electric bill issues and complaints.

The program provides consumer education and complaint resolution (between the consumer and their investor-owned utility).
