Edith Sanchez holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles and has over 22 years of experience in subsidized child care programs and 24 years in the field of child development.
Prior to IILA, Edith began her career as a teacher assistant while she was an undergraduate student, working with infants to preschool-aged children. She then became a Case Manager for Subsidized Child Care programs and eventually a manager of CalWORKs Stage One Program.
Edith joined IILA in 2010 to oversee the Alternative Payments Programs (APPs) to help families arrange child care services and pays for those services directly to the child care provider. She gradually took on more responsibilities to manage the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) and the Child and Adult Care Food Network (CACFP). Edith was promoted to the Director of the Child Development Division in 2014 and to her current role as Vice President of Child Development in 2020, where she oversees IILA’s center-based preschool programs and voucher-based subsidized programs.
