Christine Robison graduated from Occidental College in 1980 and then studied for one year in France on a Rotary International scholarship. After that, she lived a number of years in Tunisia and Morocco and worked to establish cottage industries and distribute microloans to girls and women in need. She volunteered at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in the eighties and has always been sensitive to the plight and needs of refugees and immigrants. She realizes that, to a great degree, they contribute historically to the strength of the United States. For over twenty years she owned a travel company offering month-long journeys to little-visited international destinations, realizing that travel promotes peace.
