Asylum Granted in Court!

Friday, May 7, 2021

On March 7, 2021, an IILA client was granted asylum in immigration court. On that day, she began a new chapter in her life free from fear.

In Honduras, our client had faced severe persecution since childhood. The Honduran government had refused to protect her, and she faced real dangers to her life if she were returned to Honduras. Despite all her hardships, she was a university student in Honduras studying to be a nurse, and hopes to continue her studies in the United States. We have no doubt that she will reach her dreams and goals.

IILA’s Managing Attorney Edita Ghushchyan shares:

“Thank you to IILA for providing me the ability to help people such as my client. As an attorney at IILA, I have the time to connect with my clients and to spend the necessary time on research, writing, and case preparation. This is very important to me as I want to give the best legal service I can to my clients. Thank you to the Immigration Legal Services Division team for being there with all the issues in this case, and special thank you to Daniel Flores, Danny, (as our client calls him) for living through this case with me.”
