IILA Refugee Services Glendale office expands programs

The International Institute of Los Angeles Glendale office is growing again this month with the initiation of the California Healthy Marriages Program. This program will build on the current Refugee Healthy Marriages Program which currently serves 250 refugees a year.

The Glendale office is also home to the Refugee Employment Program, which provides case management and employment services to over 850 refugees. Also, located in the office is IILA’s Refugee Resettlement and Placement program which resettles over 400 refugees each year. A total of 17 IILA employees work in the office in addition to a number of interns and volunteers.

The Refugee Healthy Marriage Program and the California Healthy Marriages Program will serve an estimated 600 refugees and immigrants annually. The program, which has been very popular among Iranian refugees, will now be expanded to include Iranian immigrants, Iraqi refugees and immigrants, and Latinos living in East Los Angeles.

The program provides workshops for couples who want to improve their communication and relationship skills.
