IILA opens Glendale office for Iranian refugees
August 29, 2006
International Institute of Los Angeles recently opened an office in Glendale to help resettle Iranian minorities who are currently being accepted into the US Refugee Resettlement Program. By late August over 150 cases had been filed for the program.
IILA currently has two staff working with local families who have relatives in Iran that qualify for the refugee program. Christians, Jews and Baha’I Iranians qualify for the program if they can prove a well-founded fear of persecution.
“We expect these refugees to begin arriving in the United States in late fall. Already we have had a few families arrive who were registered before we opened the Glendale office,” reports Joy Hofer, vice president for program operations at IILA.
The office is located at 1915 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale, CA 90201. Phone number is 818/988-1332. Click here for more information in Farsi.
